At Dance Brisbane, workshops are the heart of the learning experience. Each workshop is a carefully designed two-hour intensive that provides enough time to introduce new concepts, practise them thoroughly and build a genuine understanding before moving on. Rather than rushing through endless sequences of steps, students leave with practical skills they can immediately enjoy and continue developing in their own time.
This format is particularly well suited to today’s busy lifestyles. Many adults love the idea of learning to dance but find it difficult to commit to long weekly courses. Two-hour workshops provide a complete learning experience in a single session, allowing students to learn at their own pace, practise between workshops and return when they are ready to continue. Giving new skills time to settle naturally often leads to stronger learning and a more enjoyable experience.
The Foundations Workshop Series forms the backbone of Dance Brisbane’s approach to social partner dancing. Beginning with the essential principles of movement, rhythm, musicality, partner connection, and lead-and-follow, each workshop builds upon the last to create a broad understanding of social dancing. Rather than learning isolated dance styles, students develop the core skills that make every new dance easier to understand, learn and enjoy.
The workshops are equally valuable for those already learning Salsa, Bachata, Swing, Ballroom, Zouk, or other partner dances. By exploring the foundations shared across many social dances, students gain a broader perspective that complements their existing tuition, strengthens their dancing, and provides practical tools for approaching every new dance style with greater understanding.
Workshops are held throughout the year at carefully selected dance studios and community halls across South East Queensland, allowing students from different parts of Brisbane to participate. New workshop dates are announced through our social media channels and are ticketed through Humanitix.
